Marvel Loch Historic ROM Crushing Project | Elite EMCCS

Project case study

Marvel Loch historic ROM crushing campaign.

A 250,000 tonne historic ROM crushing contract at a Marvel Loch gold operation in the WA Yilgarn. Steel-contaminated stockpile, mobile crushing campaign.

Project overview

The largest mobile crushing contract in Elite's history at the time of award. The scope was 250,000 tonnes of historic run-of-mine stockpile at a Marvel Loch gold operation. Steel contamination across the stockpile made it technically demanding at scale. The contract was scaled back by the client before the full scope was reached, due to operational reasons unrelated to crushing performance.

Scope of works

  • Mobilisation of crushing train and crew to the Marvel Loch site, Yilgarn
  • ROM stockpile reduction to mill-feed specification
  • Steel-handling provisions in the primary circuit, including feed inspection at the apron
  • Increased-frequency maintenance windows to manage wear under steel contamination
  • Daily production reporting and continuous QA against the agreed feed-out spec
  • Demobilisation on completion of the contracted scope

Outcomes

  • Approximately 150,000 tonnes processed before scope was reduced by the client
  • Mill feed delivered to spec across the full processed tonnage
  • Steel contamination managed through the campaign without unscheduled extended outage
  • Working relationship maintained for follow-on work at the same site
